  • The Wood Yard

The Wood Yard handles incoming timber and converts it to chips and pulpwood. Its capacity is 1.7 million m3/year and was installed in 1997 by FMW (Austria).

Spruce and fir timber in lengths of 2, 4 or 6 metres long are delivered by rail, trucks and ship. The timber is unloaded by 20 ton gantry cranes and 4 ton hydraulic cranes.

Part of the timber is unloaded into the slashers (capacity 140 m3/hour), which saw the timber into 1.2 mlong pieces for pulpwood. The pulpwood is then debarked (capacity 85 m3/hour), washed and transported to the Stone Ground Wood mill or to the storage pile.

The rest of the timber is delivered to the debarking drums before being reduced to geometrically uniform wood chips. After screening, the chips are delivered to the TMP plant.
