As part of the Volga's priority investment project aimed at repurposing PM No. 6 and commissioning a new MM-500 waste paper line, contractor employees from Technical Systems LLC modernized the substation No. 7.

Specialized equipment was purchased and installed for the works - switchgear No. 1, sections 2 and 3, new 0.4 kV cable products and cable constructions.

The contractor's employees laid new cables, switched from old, outdated sections of the substation to new ones in order to completely vacate the complex transformer substation (KTP-30), repair the facility where it was located and prepare it for installation of new equipment to ensure power supply to the MM-500 waste paper line.

All works performed were carried out with the participation of the Volga's Chief Power Engineer Service. The Deputy Chief Power Engineer Yury Kochetov and the Senior Workshop Foreman Vasily Makalkin supervised the contractor’s work.

"The first stage of modernization has been completed, voltage has been supplied to the installed equipment, and in the coming days the switchover of the instrumentation and control workshop, the communication workshop will be carried out, and backup power supply will be provided to the Mill's control facility, the department of material and technical supply, and the Mill's street lighting. It should be noted that all the work was carried out according to schedule," - commented Dmitry Zakharov, the Volga's Chief Power Engineer.

Specialists from Volga will carry out further maintenance of the substation.

In the next stage, 6 kV complex switchgear will be replaced at substation No. 2.

"Technical Systems LLC is currently manufacturing 6 kV cells to connect new equipment - a refiner and a hydrobeater, new environmentally friendly transformers with increased capacity for the MM-500 waste paper line. At KTP-30, outdated low-capacity equipment is being dismantled and will be replaced with modern turnkey equipment," - added Alexander Barinov, the Deputy Director of Major Investment Projects at JSC Volga.
