JSC Volga opened a new route for product shipments to China

photo At the end of February 2021, the Gorky railway began transporting new JSC Volga production from Nizhny Novgorod region to China through the port of Vladivostok. The first container block train with newsprint for export set off on a new route to China on February, 23. This was announced by the Deputy General Director for Transport and Logistics Alexey Polyansky.

The new route for container shipment, from the station Pravdinsk in Nizhny Novgorod region to the station Vladivostok (Primorsky territory), allowed the company to cut the cost of products transportation and to reduce the time of paper delivery to customers.

“Before, the shipment of our company’s products to China was carried out on classical routes: through the ports of Novorossiysk and Saint-Petersburg. But due to the increase in tariffs for maritime transportation, we began to look for other, more convenient routes,” stated Alexey Polyansky. “The first consignment of paper (about 1500 tons) was shipped directly to China by train via “the Silk Road” last year in May through the Zabaikalsk – Manchuria border crossing.”

JSC Volga plans to further improve logistics by reducing the amount of multimodal
transportation: in 2021, the share of land transportation by rail will increase to 50%.
