JSC Volga actively pursues a socially responsible policy aimed at improving the environmental situation at the Сompany's facilities and in the region where it operates.
On 13 October 2023, the Company traditionally initiated a “green campaign” at forest sites in Severny village, Varnavinsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The event was attended by the Volga’s employees, a representative of Sberbank and a school forestry group based at Severny Secondary School in Varnavinsky District. The participants planted about seven thousand open-rooted pine seedlings on an area of more than two hectares.
For the first time, children from the school forestry group of the Severny School came to support such a green campaign. Nikolay Karchevsky, the head of the logging site, told about further co-operation with this circle:
"The management of the Severny Secondary Comprehensive School approached our logging site with a request to show the children from the school forestry group what our work is about.
The first meeting took place on 13 October and was of an introductive nature. We provided the children with a copy of the reforestation project so that they could understand the full scale of the work. Before the start of the green campaign, the schoolchildren, as well as all the participants, listened to a briefing on planting pine seedlings and started reforestation works, - said Nikolay Karchevsky.
At the second stage, already in November, we will show what happens to the growing forest that will be harvested.
In addition, the children will see the process of warehousing, construction of forest roads, product shipment and look at the arrangement of workplaces in the lower warehouse."
Olga Davydova, the head of the school forestry group and a biology and chemistry teacher at Severny School, expressed her gratitude: "Thanks to JSC Volga for organizing the green campaign. We received a lot of positive emotions".
It should be noted that JSC Volga carries out annual reforestation works to plant pine seedlings in order to improve the composition of tree species and to reforest areas that have been cut down.
