Sergey Pondar, JSC Volga CEO, is a winner of the business award "Person of the year"!
December 8, in Nizhny Novgorod, XII annual award ceremony “Person of the year” was held. The founder of the award is the Nizhny Novgorod business magazine “Delovoy Kvartal”. According to the results of the online voting, arranged by the magazine, Sergey Pondar, JSC Volga CEO, won the title “Person of the year” in the category “Investor of the year” for the implementation of a major investment project on putting into operation the new thermo-mechanical pulp production plant with the total investment of more than 1.5 billion rubles.
“I was observing the voting process with a great interest and I am grateful to everyone, who voted for me,” commented on it Sergey Pondar. “A leader is a person, who is never alone. It is a person, who has a large team behind him. Behind me there is a JSC Volga paper making personnel and a strong management team, together with which we are implementing the program for further development of the enterprise, allowing us to create a vertically integrated company with a full logging cycle and a deep wood processing. It is this team that I am especially proud of!
We are investing a considerable amount of money not only in the diversification of the product portfolio, the increase of paper output volumes and the improvement of paper quality, but also in the modernization of production and new plant construction.
In 2020 we have implemented the largest investment project in recent years: that on the construction of the new thermo-mechanical pulp production line, with the investment of more than 1.5 billion rubles. Its implementation will allow the company to produce more than 60 thousand tons of paper per year additionally, will bring more than 600 million rubles of tax liabilities into federal and regional budgets and will create about 200 new employment opportunities.
I am especially content with the fact that this project has been noticed and appreciated by the Government and the business community of Nizhny Novgorod region.
