The investment program of Volga JSC provides for the development of the following five main areas:

The key projects of the investment program are the strategic development projects of the company related to:

The key focus of Volga JSC investment activity is aimed at

Expansion of the workshop for the production of thermomechanical pulp (2020)

The investment project allowed JSC Volga to increase the output of finished products from 100% TMP, as well as create about 200 new jobs. The new 180 t/d (63,000 t/y) thermomechanical pulp production line has been designed for a possible further increase to 400 t/d (140,000 t/y).

Included in the list of priorities by the Order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the project was implemented with the support of the Industrial Development Fund (IDF RF). Attracting state support measures allowed JSC Volga to receive a preferential loan in the amount of 394 million rubles. These funds were used to purchase innovative equipment for the production of thermomechanical pulp. The amount of investment in the project amounted to about 2 billion rubles.

Andritz Group (Austria) became the general supplier of the equipment. Unique technologies, as well as the level of automation of control and monitoring systems of the thermomechanical pulp production line, meet the standards of the world's leading timber industry enterprises and have no analogues in Russia.

An investment project for the acquisition of Nizhny Novgorod state regional power plant named after A.V. Winter (NiGRES), which since January 1, 2015 became a part of Volga JSC as its structural subdivision, made it possible to increase the energy efficiency of the enterprise, ensure reliable, high-quality and affordable power supply to Volga JSC by organizing the most efficient network infrastructure that meets international standards, as well as to increase the capacity for generating electricity required to support the production process by Volga JSC.

At present, the power plant meets the company's electricity needs in full.

The investment project allowed Volga JSC to introduce a unique waste disposal technology, which consists in combining equipment by three international companies: Wellons Incorporated (USA) – a wood waste incineration plant, MCE Stahl-und Maschinenbau GmbH Co (Austria) – a sewage sludge dewatering plant facilities, SAALASTI OY (Finland) – a plant for dewatering bark and wood waste.

The uniqueness of the technology lies in the possibility of waste disposal by incineration without any fossil carbon fuels. The project includes the most efficient two-stage flue gas cleaning system – 98.5% in total.

Disposal of wood processing waste and sludge from treatment facilities that receive industrial and household wastewater from the city of Balakhna began to be carried out in the most environmentally friendly and economically profitable way. The incineration of waste in the new boiler made it possible to generate more than 50 tons of steam per hour, thereby ensuring the Company's own production, increasing energy efficiency, and creating new jobs.
