In July 2023, the SinoCorrugated exhibition was held at the China National Exhibition Centre in Shanghai. The business event is a part of the World Expo of Packaging Industry (WEPACK) exhibition cycle and is dedicated to solutions for the production of corrugated board and corrugated packaging. This year, over 1 200 exhibitors and visitors, including JSC Volga, attended the exhibition.

A delegation from JSC Volga, headed by the General Director Sergey Pondar, attended this large-scale event, visited a number of China’s leading packaging, and corrugated cardboard plants.

Sergey Ovsov, the Senior Manager of Marketing Service commented on this event:

"The trip to China allowed us to research the Chinese containerboard market more thoroughly. We collected technical and commercial proposals from local paper suppliers. We managed to develop certain benchmarks for the Chinese market, which will be used when introducing PM No. 6 products to the Chinese market. Competitors' offers in the interliner market in China, including those from SEA, Canada and Europe, were better studied. We also received samples of paper from these manufacturers. We were also able to meet with partners and receive extensive feedback on JSC Volga's paper and the Company's service. Representatives of JSC Volga visited major printing houses in China that print newspapers such as Economic Daily and Workers Daily, as well as a number of corrugated producers. Due to these meetings, we were able to better understand the wishes and needs of our paper end users. We also consolidated partnerships aimed at long-term and mutually beneficial co-operation".

"The Chinese market is very interesting for us. According to the results of the 1st half of 2023, about 70% of our products are supplied in this direction. Visiting the exhibition allowed us to explore options for possible future participation in similar events, get feedback on our products from end consumers. In general, they once again confirmed the rather high quality of our paper. Due to the fact that the paper is made of TMM without adding pulp, it has certain qualities that consumers appreciate very much. Our partners shared opportunities for improvement, which we will pass on to our colleagues in production. For us, finding areas for improvement is a way to make our products more competitive and in demand in the market," - added Dmitry Krivoruchenko, the Deputy General Director for Sales.

The Volga's General Director Sergey Pondar summarized the results of the business trip:

"Personal negotiations with our foreign partners, consumers of our products, establishment of close ties, mutually beneficial co-operation - this is what we came to the exhibition in Shanghai for. Our company has a good reputation; our products are in great demand in the Chinese market. We are also interested in China from the point of view of supplying equipment for paper production, so we plan to develop co-operation in this direction in the next few years".
